"Living Vocationally" Book Study

Thanks to the generous support of the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE), our Edgewood faculty and staff have the opportunity to participate in a communal “Big Read,” exploring Living Vocationally: The Journey of the Called Life.  Through discussion and reflection together, we hope to develop and deepen our campus efforts to more significantly integrate Edgewood’s spiritual and vocational questions into the student experience across disciplines and areas, courses and co-curriculars…and give ourselves time and space to explore our own vocational calling. give ourselves time and space to explore our own vocational calling.

What will we be doing together?

  • In May, the group will gather to learn a bit more about past projects examining and integrating vocation at EC and kick-off the Big Read.  You’ll leave with a shiny new copy of the book.
  • Through the summer, you can move through the book at your own pace, completing the read by our return for August Seminar (in which we’ll join in a lecture or workshop on the topic of vocation).
  • Then during the Fall Semester, we will gather for three lunches (provided for you!) to discuss the book, our experiences, and how it might be integrated into our work.
  • Lastly, we will share out to the campus community at January Seminar.

Fill out the online form to express an interest in participating in this book study. We will select 20 participants from across campus that represent a range of departments and disciplines, faculty and staff. We kindly ask for your reply by May 1! (Note that staff in the Division of  Student Development will also be reading this book and parallel programming will be facilitated by that Division.)

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of us on the NetVUE planning team (Sara Hanson, Rachael Lancor, or Laurin Dodge) for more information.
