Coming Fall 2021: A new way to navigate Blackboard

For the Fall 2021 semester, when you log into Blackboard, the opening Blackboard page will be updated to incorporate a more modern, easier navigation structure called “Ultra Base Navigation.”

What is the Ultra Base Navigation?
It’s a modern, intuitive navigation menu that is independent of your courses. Links provide quick access to the most critical information for students and faculty.

What does this mean for me?
• Your courses will not change. They will look and operate exactly as they do now.
• Starting with the Fall 2021 semester, you will see the new navigation as soon as you log into Blackboard. The project team is aiming for the update to be available in early August. We will send out specific updates about the timeline over the summer.

Some benefits of Ultra Base Navigation:

• Modern, intuitive user experience. You and your students are going to enjoy this simple, intuitive, engaging user experience.
• Improved experience on mobile devices. This navigation is designed to work well regardless of which device you’re using.
• Easier navigation to important information. All your course and organization information – like calendar, messages and grades – is now consolidated into one global view, minimizing the time spent navigating into each individual course.
Where can I find more information?
You can see a sample of how Ultra Base Navigation will look and find links to learn more at this faculty resource:  https://edgewood.sharepoint.com/sites/EdgewoodOnline/SitePages/Blackboard-Ultra(1).aspx
More information and training opportunities will be coming in the future.
