Virtual Reality: Virtual Reality is a new technology providing amazing educational experiences for our students. Edgewood College has purchased two Oculus Go VR googles and Google Cardboards. We would like to establish a pilot group of users to investigate the use of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality with a stipend. We hope to have 6-8 instructors who will be meeting periodically throughout the Spring semester to discuss what they have found. If you would like to experience the possibilities, please consider joining this group. Also, if you would like to experience an Oculus Go, a Google Cardboard, or participate in the pilot, please contact me. And come to Tech Fair for a hands on experience.

Training Opportunities:

Save the Date: Technology Fair will be Tuesday, January 15 (New Format)
The format will be different this year. There will be four 1-hour session blocks. Two of these blocks will contain five topic centers where there will be ten-minute presentations on topics such as security, Blackboard, Ally and more. During this hour there will be rotations allowing you to explore four different topics. The two other session blocks will cover an in-depth topic for an hour. Watch for information in EC Today and the invitation for lunch!

New Faculty Blackboard Training

On Friday, January 11, there will be the New Faculty Blackboard Training from 9 to 11:30 am.  If you are new to Edgewood during the 2018 & 2019 academic year and have not attended a New Faculty Blackboard training, you are cordially invited to attend. Dean Pribbenow graciously is providing a $100 stipend for attending. Please contact Diane Deci for more information.

One-on-one Training: As always, I am available to assist and work with you. As the Academic Technology Specialist, I am available for one-on-one training and consultation for Blackboard and other applications such as OneNote, OneDrive, Teams, Outlook, and other Microsoft Applications. I can guide you through creating accessible documents and Blackboard Ally. Contact me at ddeci@edgewood.edu for an appointment. In addition, I am available for drop-in time in ECC Office (formerly Library L7) from 9:15 to 11:15 am on Tuesdays.

Spring Technology Lunches - Mark your Calendar Now:  Tech Lunches will be Tuesday, February 12; Tuesday, March 12; and Thursday, April 12. Watch for topics in EC Today and Outlook lunch reservations.

Visiting Departments and Schools:  It has been a pleasure meeting with many of you over the last two months. If I have not attended a faculty meeting, I look forward to visiting with you during Spring Semester. During these sessions, we have discussed how to make Word and PDF documents accessible.
