The Information Technology Services Office has been fielding a high volume of particularly malicious emails and felt it advisable to share some information. 

·         Recent messages appeal to a recipient’s emotions, to extract concessions.

·         Messages make claims that they have gained unauthorized access to your system and devices.

·         Messages appear to come from @bol.com.br email addresses.

·         Messages include a reference to bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as methods of payment.

If you receive emails attempting to blackmail or solicit sympathy from you, do not engage with them and report the emails to the Technology Assistance Center at 608-663-6900 or technology-assistance@edgewood.edu.
