AGENDA - College Assembly, 4p, Mon. April 8, 2019

4:00 pm, Washburn Heritage Room

  • Reflection (Mary Klink, Dominican Life & Mission)
  • Kudos (bring kudos to share!)
  • President’s Update/ Q&A
  • College Assembly guidelines (David Smith)
  • When the College Assembly was established, it was the primary deliberative body for both faculty and staff at Edgewood College.  With the advent of the Faculty and Staff Associations, the need for the deliberative functions of the College Assembly diminished.  This diminished importance has been reflected in low turnout for Assembly meetings, including many where the Assembly has not been able to meet a quorum.  This committee believes that the College Assembly still plays an important role on campus, and that it should continue in the future.  We believe the College Assembly should continue as primarily an advisory body.  This committee recommends that the current bylaws be dissolved, and replaced with the new proposed College Assembly guidelines.
  • Proposed Motion: The Ad Hoc Committee for Bylaw Revision proposes that the College Assembly dissolve the current bylaws and accept the proposed guidelines for the College Assembly. College Assembly will serve primarily as an advisory body to the President of Edgewood College.
  • A vote will be conducted at the August Seminar/College Assembly.
