IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FSA and HSA PARTICIPANTS

High priority

Employee Benefits Corporation (EBC), the administrator of our Flexible and Health Spending Accounts (FSA and HSA, respectively), has informed us of several changes they are making to enhance their ability to provide support to participants.  While Edgewood College participants in these accounts will receive information about these changes directly from EBC, we are providing you with advanced notice of these important upcoming changes which become effective August 1, 2016:

New Debit Card Processor

As a result of EBC transitioning to a new debit card processor, all FSA and HSA participants who currently have a ‘Benny Card’ will receive a new ‘EBC Benefits Card’ for use starting August 1, 2016. Participants ‘EBC Benefits Card’ will be activated automatically when used the first time.   The final steps of this transition will take place July 28 – 31 during which time participants will not be able to use their ‘Benny Card’.

New HSA Bank Custodian

EBC is also transitioning to a new bank custodian beginning August 1, 2016 – from HSA Bank to Avidia Bank.  EBC is making this change because it allows them to provide ‘tier one’ support to HSA participants in being able to field inquiries about account balances, deposits, and expenditures, in addition to those areas they already serve as a resource, such as eligible/ineligible expenses, IRS rules specific to HSAs, etc.

If you’ve elected to participate in a FSA, Limited FSA, Dependent Care FSA, and/or HSA in 2016, you will receive an email from Human Resources today.  This email and its attached Q&A will provide greater details about the changes EBC is making.  Please be diligent in checking the postal mail you receive at your home for correspondence from EBC and/or HSA Bank as there are deadlines that require your attention.

Questions you may have in the interim should be directed to Kathy Buechel in Human Resources at kbuechel@edgewood.edu or 608/663-2864.
