External email banners have become a popular security measure that allows a recipient to quickly identify where an email originated. Edgewood College will be implementing this safety feature starting the second week of classes, January 28th.
How will this affect your emails?
If an email originates from outside Edgewood’s email system, the below caution banner will be prepended to the email.
CAUTION: This email did not originate from Edgewood College. Do not click links or open attachments unless you've verified the content is safe.
If an email originates from inside Edgewood’s email system, there will be no change to how your emails are handled.
NOTE: Regardless of the tool utilized, safe email habits must be practiced, including but not limited to:
- Never give out login information over email or through a link in an email. Edgewood College ITSO will never ask for passwords.
- Never open an attachment or click a link without exercising caution. Whenever feasible, verify with the sender that the email is legitimate and purposeful.
