Dear Campus Community,

The following evening, on Thursday, 2/12, Edgewood College will hosts its third annual Multicultural Open House from 6-8p. Admitted and prospective high school seniors are invited to campus to explore student life, educational opportunities, financial aid, and receive tips on completing the Edgewood College scholarship application.

On Thursday, 2/19, the Center for Multicultural Education will host its annual Distinguished Lecture Series,  "Black Farmers, Urban Agriculture, and Increasing Access to Healthy Food in Detroit,"  featuring Monica White. This lecture begins promptly at 4p.

On Thursday, 2/19, Edgewood College will celebrate its annual Multicultural Explosion & Step Show beginning at 7p in the Anderson Auditorium. This events showcases the best cultural performance groups, fraternities & sororities across the state.

Black History Month closes with two special events. On Tuesday, 2/24, Charles Taylor, a Professor at Edgewood College, will present his documentary, “THEN & NOW: A Decade of Discontent,” at 5p in the Anderson Auditorium. This historical documentary is a riveting look-back at the Milwaukee and Wisconsin Civil Rights Movement.

Finally, during the week of 2/23, we are partnering with our local community and will bring to campus a “Solitary Confinement Cell.” The Cell will be accessible during the week of 2/23 for our campus community members and friends. We hope to call attention to the many social injustices that occur within the prison system. During this week, we will also have guest presenters, lectures, and roundtable discussions about this topic.

Here is a short video about the solitary cell: http://vimeo.com/113960318

We hope many of you can participate in one of the programs!
