Playwright Workshop with James Hesla

Have you ever tried to write a play? Well, now is your chance to learn more! Join us for a two-evening event on Tuesday, March 20th and Thursday, March 22nd 4:00-6:30pm!

The ten-minute play is a unique theatrical expression. A ten-minute play should contain all the elements of good playwriting—compelling characters and theme, careful plot with a beginning middle and end. But the ten-minute genre is conceived and executed in a fundamentally different way. This workshop will acquaint you with all the necessary elements of good playwriting, and spark your imagination, while concentrating on the special needs of the ten-minute genre.

This workshop is led by James Hesla, a produced playwright and theatre scholar. Plays include Behold!, Graves Rule, Home/Abroad, and It’s Me You Should Blame. He has also written numerous ten-minute plays, which have been produced by Rorschach Theatre, Active Cultures Theatre, Source Festival, SUNY Brockport, and The University of Wisconsin-Madison.
