Get Office for Free!

Greetings,

You may have seen previous communications or heard whispers of Edgewood College email moving to Office 365.  Well, the time is here!  Last month we migrated all Edgewood College student email to Office 365.  Along with this migration, I am also pleased to announce the availability of the Office 365 Pro Apps to all Faculty/Staff & Students!  Moving Faculty/Staff email is scheduled for early next semester.

How does this benefit you?

  • File storage and sharing with 1 TB storage/user (For personal use only, data is not backed up)
  • Customizable themes for email and Office 365 portals.
  • Full, installed Office applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, OneNote, Access, and Skype for Business on up to 5 PCs, Macs and some Mobile devices (Office Pro Apps) – saving you over $75!
  • Online versions of Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more
  • Students and Alumni will have Email in Office 365.  Faculty/Staff will be migrated Spring 2016.

This seems too good to be true – what’s the catch? How much is this going to cost me?

The only catch is that you have to be a current enrolled student or employee at Edgewood College. The best part: this program is free!  No, really, it’s free.

When will I not have access to all of these great things?

Access will be removed after you are no longer employed at Edgewood College.  If you are also an Alumni, you may re-gain access to your @edgewood.edu via a new account.  You will be responsible for backing up your own data.  For Office applications, you still have the option to purchase Office through JourneyEd at discounted prices.  If you purchase Office though Journey Ed instead of installing the Office 365 version, your license won't expire. (*Subject to Microsoft licensing terms and conditions.)

This is awesome!  When will this be available to me and how do I access these amazing services?

The time is now!

To access your Office 365 Apps, we recommend you use http://m365.edgewood.edu to login using your Edgewood email as your username.  Both http://m365.edgewood.edu and http://portal.office.com will bring you to the new log in page for your new Office 365 Apps.

Office Pro Apps and one drive should be available to you now.  If you still don’t have access, please contact the Technology Assistance Center via the contact info below.

When I log in to the Office 365 Portal, there are more apps available to me than you mentioned above.  Is that by mistake?

Microsoft is constantly adding and making improvements to Office 365.  To enhance your Office 365 experience, we have opened up these new features to all Faculty/Staff rather than hold them back or hide them.  Even though these features are available, we will be providing limited (best-effort) support for those applications/features.

What if I need assistance setting up Office applications or other features?

If you have any questions, feedback or need further assistance, please contact the Technology Assistance Center (TAC) at Technology-Assistance@edgewood.edu or 608-663-6900.  TAC will assist you with setting up your email; however, we will provide limited (best-effort) support for all other Office 365 applications and features. You will be responsible for backing up your data in Office 365.

Thank you for your patience and partnership.

NOTE: Edgewood College and Microsoft will NEVER ask you for your account or personal information or ask you to verify your account via email.  If you receive such a request, or have fallen victim to one of these attacks, please report it to the Technology Assistance Center immediately.
