GOAL: Using a research-based approach, introduce the topic of collegiality in academe, and set a direction for future study, reflection, action.
Agenda
- Review and discuss Magna webinar materials on Fostering Collegiality in Higher Ed, focusing on these objectives:
- gain an understanding of what collegiality is and is not
- discover what U. S. courts have ruled regarding collegiality in higher education
- learn strategies to use when dealing with uncivil colleagues
- Leigh Maxwell, Communication Studies Department, will discuss her current research in workplace communication and share strategies for conflict resolution and strengthening collegiality
- Set direction for future study, reflection, action
- Receive handouts with lists of practical ideas from Robert Cipriano, Ed.D, leader of the webinar.
