Transformational Leadership Series
Sunday, September 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 2-5pm - Dane County Timebank (1202 Williamson Suite 107)

This 12-session series, led by Davette Baker, will explore positionality, privilege, systems of power and oppression, and systemic racism through activities, discussions, and films, followed by discussions on how to take action, build movements, and organize communities in the fight for justice. Facing Unconscious Bias
Friday, September 13 from 8:30-10:30am - The Dream Bank (821 E Washington Ave)

This workshop will ask participants to step inside, understand how they perceive the world, and recognize how their biases shape their daily workplace interactions. For more info, click here.


Three Native Women on Like a Hammer
Friday, September 13 from 5:30-6:30pm - Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (227 State St)

Led by three Native women, this discussion will focus on Indigenous craft and gender roles, the cross-cultural use of Indigenous designs, and pan-Indianism referring to identity and gender, among other issues. For more info, click here.


Mexican Independence Parade & Festival
Sunday, September 15 from 10am-8pm - UMOS, Inc. (2701 S Chase Ave in Milwaukee)

This free event in Milwaukee will feature a parade, festival, food vendors, live music, and a float competition to celebrate Mexican independence. For more info, click here.


Hispanic Heritage Month Open House
Friday, September 20 from 5-8:30pm - Wisconsin Historical Society Headquarters (816 State St)

Led by the Wisconsin Historical Society and the Madison Latino Chamber of Commerce, this free open house will include food, live entertainment, keynote speakers, and a museum and archival collections. For more info, click here.


11th Annual Black Women's Wellness Day
Saturday, September 21 from 8:30am-6:30pm - Alliant Energy Center (1919 Alliant Energy Center Way)

This annual event, hosted by the Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness, is Wisconsin's largest health and wellness summit created by and for Black women, and will feature networking, workshops, speakers, fitness demos, a buffet lunch, and dozens of vendors. Empower-MKE: Navigating the Criminal Justice System Part 1
Saturday, September 21 from 8:30-11am - Washington Park Senior Center (4420 W Vliet St in Milwaukee)

This event, led by Senator LaTonya Johnson and state representatives of the 6th Senate District, will provide information about navigating the criminal justice system. For more info, click here.


Moment with Africans
Saturday, September 21 from 2-5pm - Nō Studios (1037 W McKinley Ave in Milwaukee)

This storytelling event will tell stories about the African continent, including a discussion on African dependence and development in African countries, followed by a Q&A session. The event will feature an all-you-can-eat African buffet and products like herbs, shea butter, and African clothing. For more info, click here.


Unlearning Racism: Tools for Action - Milwaukee Fall 2019 Series
Thursday, September 26 from 1-5pm - YWCA Southeast Wisconsin (1915 N Dr M.L.K. Jr Dr in Milwaukee)

This six-session series in Milwaukee will discuss strategies to eliminate racism. Throughout the series, participants will learn about and work to undo the effects of racism on individuals, organizations, and communities. For more info, click here.
