Changes to Campus Computers for Increased Security

Good morning,

Later this month, the Edgewood College IT Services Office will be moving forward with a number of changes to increase security and improve stability on all campus computers.

These changes should be mostly transparent to you, but the following are some changes that you might notice:

  • If you get a message that the program you are trying to run has been blocked by group policy, contact TAC.
  • Using remote desktop to access an Edgewood College computer now requires VPN both on- and off-campus.
  • You might notice a few extra programs and features installed on your machine, such as Bitlocker Drive Encryption, EMET, and Dell Command Update.

If you have any questions or concerns, or if you notice these or any other issues with your workstation, please do not hesitate to contact the Technology Assistance Center at technology-assistance@edgewood.edu or x6900.

Thank you!

Best regards,

Deron Kling
