There are several major changes coming in the next month that will impact all faculty, staff and student workers. More detailed information on each change will be forthcoming. Please keep an eye for further communications in EC Today and your email.
What is changing?
Microsoft Teams
Department File Shares
Most files shares (aka I drive, K drive, \\edgewood.edu\files\...) have already been migrated to Microsoft Teams. The remaining file shares will be migrated by the end of January. Further communication will sent out to members of the departments of the shares that are migrating.
Telephony & Chat
The week of February 7th , we will be migrating all users to Microsoft Teams for Telephony and chat. This will replace the current Skype for Business client for phone calls, and instant messaging (chat). After being migrated you will be prompted when you launch Skype for Business to switch to Microsoft Teams. One major difference is how phones are connected to your account/extension. The switch to teams will require everyone to log in to their phone using the Web Sign-in method. More information on using teams, as well as the login process which is slightly different depending which type of phone you have will be shared shortly.
Special Note: If you would rather have a hands free headset than a large desk phone, please contact the Technology Assistance Center and we will work to get your phone replaced.
