Did you know that 1-in-3 students went to either the Writing Center or Learning Lab for help last year?  It's true...we did the math.  If you count the total visits for each space, the Writing Center had 480 drop-ins for the year (18 per week) and the Learning Lab had 2,270 drop-ins for the year (87 per week).  Our students regularly come in to use these two excellent resources to help them succeed.  That's pretty smart.

The Writing Center and Learning Lab also employ 30-35 outstanding student peer coaches each semester.  They support the courses you teach and the groups you advise or supervise.  We are always looking for students who reflect the diversity of our student body, and who also know how to balance, work hard, think creatively, connect with others, and show some grit.  Whether a student's strengths are in communication, nursing, biology, writing, psychology, business, math, or overall study strategies...they have an opportunity to work in subjects they enjoy.  Oftentimes, a student does not realize they would make a good coach until someone in a position to know suggests it to them.  If you know a student who would be a great fit and is looking for additional practice and challenge in their coursework, encourage them to apply, email Doug Wandersee, or come see us in the Library.
