Considering attending the Sukkot on October 9th, from 6:30-8:30p, at Temple Beth El.

Sukkot is a Jewish holiday which commemorates both the autumn harvest and the 40 years the Israelites wandered in the desert after their liberation from Egyptian slavery. For seven days Jews are commanded to ‘dwell’ in a sukkah (booth), a temporary dwelling that reminds us both of the types of shelters ancient farmers would have reacted in their fields during the fall harvest-time; and the shelters the Israelites would have used to sleep in every night during their journey.

Come join community members at Temple Beth El’s sukkah, learn about the holiday and its rituals and traditions, and then share an indoor pot-luck picnic inside the temple! All ages and faiths are welcome.

Please bring a flashlight, food to share, and a picnic blanket. Food should follow Jewish dietary restrictions: no pork products, including ham and bacon, no shellfish, and please do not combine meat and dairy products in the same dish. Dress warmly as the sukkah is outdoors!
