Salary: $7.25 per hour
Hours: Negotiable
Summary of Job Scope and Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Academic Support (ASAP) Coordinator, peer tutors will assist the Coordinator in providing tutorial support to improve students’ academic performance, specifically in the area of statistics. This student must be willing to provide academic support for all students who utilize the Academic Support Achievement Program (ASAP) Study Circles and have the ability to work effectively across cultures. We are specifically looking for a tutor comfortable with Math 121, Statistics.
Responsibilities
This position requires at least four (4) hours per week providing academic tutoring in the area of math, and must be available to work in the afternoon and early evenings. The majority of the work will occur in the early evening. These hours will include the bi-weekly study tables and meeting students individually for additional support.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide direct tutorial services to students in the area of statistics to students who utilize the Academic Support Achievement Program Study Circle sessions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students.
- Assist the Academic Support Coordinator with administrative duties (i.e. tracking student participation, collecting data, etc.).
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Successful candidates will have knowledge expertise in college level statistics. Upper classman who have declared major in a related field are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.
Days and Time Required
Peer Tutors are required to work four (4) hours per week. Bi-weekly, Tuesdays from 4:00-6:00pm and individually with students one-on-one, or small groups on a need basis. Additional hours may be available, depending on student’s needs.
