MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's volleyball team stepped up their game on the court and in the classroom this year. Not content with merely extending their streak of earning the AVCA Team Academic Award to eight years, the Eagles went a step beyond. The 2017-18 Edgewood College women's volleyball team was named to the AVCA's Team Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes the programs with the Top-25 grade point averages in the country in NCAA Division III.

The Eagles posted a sterling 3.674 grade point average across their 17 rostered players. Two student-athletes, Savannah Koester and Grace Zimmer, achieved perfect 4.0 grade point averages for the year, and no student-athlete was below a 3.0.

Head coach Paul Schlomer's squad earned their eighth straight AVCA Team Academic Award and their 10th in the last 11 years. To earn the Team Academic Award, programs must achieve at least a 3.30 grade point average for the year, including all team members. Additionally as announced last week, 15 of the Eagles' 17 players earned NACC Scholar-Athlete honors which recognizes all players above a 3.25 grade point average for the academic year.

Edgewood College begins the 2018 season in just six weeks. The Eagles will open their campaign on August 31 at the St. Mary's University Sugar Loaf Classic in Winona, Minn. Edgewood College's home schedule begins on September 18 against Concordia University Wisconsin.
